1.
The Coaches
Guidebook (40 pages)
The Coaches Guidebook is taken from discussion between David and
two practicing coaches, Peter Burgess and Margie Zesinger who have successfully implemented The Bailey Method
into their everyday lessons.
Peter
Burgess is an internationally certified coach and
educator who has been teaching adults and children from beginner to high performance / tournament levels
for over 20 years. In this Coaches Guide he and Dave discuss how implementing The Bailey Method into
his teaching has changed his approach to his coaching and his business with some dramatic results.
It has added a new component to his coaching and he describes how running group classes on footwork as opposed to
private lessons has been far more profitable for his business. He doesn't need to advertise because his
success with his students is spread by word of mouth. His coaching approach now focuses on incorporating sound
proven fundamentals including footwork, as a core component to making the great game of tennis "a game for life".
This discussion is full of great ideas, tips and resources that you can use in your coaching and in your
business.
Margie
Zesingeris a strategic coach at the IMG,
Bollitierri's Tennis Academy in West Bradenton, Florida, USA. She teaches students of all ages and at all levels.
In this discussion with Dave she describes how using The Bailey Method in her coaching makes teaching footwork
so much easier for both the coach and the student. She gives lots of tips and ideas of how best to use The Bailey
Method in your coaching and how it has best worked for her. She tells how the method has benefited her as
a coach and gives guidance on what to look for and how to individualise students lessons, highlighting the
importance of mastering the footwork and steps for yourself. Click here to order
2. The Players Guidebook (23 pages)
The Players Guidebook is taken from discussion between David and
Jarmila Gajdosova who has implemented The Bailey Method into her training with remarkable
results.
Jarmila
Gajdosova who is from Slovakia, started training with David in
March 2005 when she was ranked 300 and at the time of this interview in January 2006, she had risen to 100 and
by October 2006 was ranked 67. She emphasises the importance of fitness and describes how using the
language and the footwork has impacted on her game and her results. She talks about ways in which she uses the
method to improve her strength and how shadow tennis helps you to get the feel of how to move your feet and move to
the ball.
Jarmila explains how and where she practices in
preparation for tournaments and prior to a game and gives lots of hints and ideas on how to practice, different
kinds of resistance equipment to use and how to develop speed and strength that will add to your confidence. She
emphasises the value of working with a coach who fully understands The Bailey Method and the importance of working
together as a team and the importance of developing good communication between you. Click here to order
3. The Parents
Guidebook (34 pages)
The Parents Guidebook is taken directly from
discussion between David Bailey and Sonja Hudalay, mother of Martina, a young tennis
enthusiast.
Sonja Hudalyhas been actively involved in her daughter's training since she started with David at the age of
9 and understands the challenges, the sacrifices, the benefits and the satisfaction of what its like to be the
mother of a young tennis enthusiast. Here she is sharing her knowledge and experiences of how to best support and
guide a child through footwork and tennis training and fitness. She describes how easily young people pick up the
language and the method and how she gets involved with the teaching despite the fact that she herself is not a
tennis player. She describes her role in helping her daughter recognise areas of weakness and the tools and ways
used to help to demonstrate and improve this. She emphasises the importance of fitness, diet, and lifestyle and how
she and her daughter Martina work together to achieve balance in their lives. Sonja describes the benefits of group
as well as individual classes and offers heaps of hints and commonsense thoughts and ideas that contribute to
ensuring that the needs and aspirations of the young tennis enthusiasts are met in a caring and understanding way.
