Federer’s greatest asset

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Hi - Diana here! David’s PA & Marketing Manager.  Since being so involved with David and all of his members from around the world (more than 22 countries now!) I’ve become pretty obsessed with tennis myself.

The other night when I was watching the Australian Open I was delighted to hear a comment made by one of the commentators when Federer was on court.   One commentator asked the other (I think it was Todd Woodbridge or Jim Courier) what he thought Federer’s greatest asset was. Without hesitation he said “The way he moves, his movement is poetry and he’s so light on his feet. Fast movement is critical - it keeps him in control of the game.”

I’m learning so much about the game of tennis and when I hear comments like this I know Dave and you guys are on the right track and I’m proud to be involved with you all! I look forward to speaking to you soon and even meeting some of you at the Customer Appreciation day in Sydney in March.

Be like a golfer at a golf range!

Monday, January 22nd, 2007

I think it is fantastic to work on your footwork using a ‘live’ ball i.e. rallying a ball back and forth. But….it also essential like when a golfer goes to a driving range where he  concentrates ONLY on his swing, to have a ball fed to you so you can concentrate ONLY on your feet with out the pressure of ins and outs. This gives you a chance to experiment and polish your footwork and also gives your coach the chance to watch your feet the whole way out and back. And, by feeding, he can place the ball at the right height and speed, so you can isolate contact moves. It is  a lot easier to isolate a contact move with a feed than it is with a live ball hit!

Concentrate on the How!

It is funny that a very common saying that you hear when walking past a tennis court is “Move your feet!”…..But, what does that mean? It is like getting the results to a fitness test but then having no idea on ‘How’ to work on those weak results! Knowing how to solve a problem is much more important than knowing there is a problem!

Go Monique!

What a thrill it was for me to see (live) Monique Adamczak (one of the players on the Bailey Method DVD) play center court at the Australian Open and make a dream come true televised to an audience of 650 million people worldwide. I know how many sacrifices and how hard Monique has worked and to see her be rewarded finacially and well as an experience of playing Svetlana Kuznetsova world Number 4 center court (after winning her first round) made me so proud of her. She really put up a great fight and took home enormous self confidence. Good on you Monique!
