A powerful force - How do you feel?
Tuesday, July 24th, 2007A powerful force with The Bailey Method is to work on the players’ feelings. “What feels good?” “What feels right?” “What do you feels works for you?”
These feelings are acquired through experimentation, research, absorbing, rejecting until the mind is ‘clean’ of negative thoughts.
It is fun to approach your teaching and your students learning through this approach. It is a ‘team’ effort of trust, communication and more importantly LOVE of what you are doing and a deep respect of the sport you are trying to master.
What ends up is a ‘discovery’ of things you do very well. And, then, success will come from the realisation of what you do well, and then repeating this over and over again so you feel comfortable, and, more importantly CONFIDENT in what you are doing!
CONFIDENCE=FEELING GOOD.
Feeling good is the secret to living a life and playing a game that gives you love, joy and happiness.
Never, ever forget that The Bailey Method is just that….a method….a ‘WAY’ of teaching….a relationship with your student and the game of tennis and life itself….and yes, my friend, there is a lot of power in that. Because, as teachers we are really guides…people who hold out a light…a torch that shines a path…that directs your thinking, and guides you in your approach to living, relationships, family, work, rest and play.
Footnote: The Bailey Method is NOT a technical approach OR IS IT a game based approach. It is a communicational, experimental + self discovery approach, thus, more of a combination of the above. Therefore, never closed or never quite open. A techni-game approach.
